Alpaca Canada is a good place to find out more about the Canadian alpaca industry. Follow the link and check out their website. The Canadian Llama and Alpaca Association known as CLAA also has a website. There is a link from the CLAA page to Canadian Livestock Records Corporation or CLRC which is the body that registers Canadian alpacas. All of our animals are double registered therefore we are members of Alpaca Registry Incorporated and Alpacas Owners and Breeders Association which are international associations. Both ARI and AOBA also have very informative websites. We belong to the Alpaca Fibre Cooperative of North America, Inc. or AFCNA. We also belong to the Canadian Camelid Fibre Cooperative. We are also members of the Saskatchewan Alpaca Breeder's Network. We host a premiere event in Lloydminster every fall to showcase the Alpaca industry. It includes an alpaca halter and fleece show. This year's Lloydminster Alpaca Showcase will be held on Oct 17,18, 2009. Fleece will be judged on the 15 and 16th. We are among a group of breeders hosting the Canadian National Alpaca Select Sale and Futurity held every spring. The dates for this year are April 19-21st, 2009. The online stud services auction will be starting Nov. 1, which is very exciting. In the spring the offspring of the nominated studs will compete at the futurity for big prize money and there will be a select sale the same weekend. Cathy is an International Judge and Trudy is an International Chief Steward.
